Purchasing medical malpractice insurance can be a costly expense for medical professionals, especially in recent years with premiums on the rise. Premiums have risen so much that many doctors have been forced to move to states that offer lower premiums or stop practicing medicine altogether. Regardless, there are ways that you can reduce medical malpractice insurance rates.

The average cost of insurance can vary from city to city or state to state, but that’s not the only consideration taken into account to determine rates. Let us first offer a brief overview of why premiums vary so much.

Geographic Location: One of the major considerations when determining malpractice insurance rates is the state where a professional practices medicine. Many insurance providers will look at the set insurance rates as well as the potential for malpractice lawsuits in that state and branch of medicine.

Dealing with a medical malpractice claim is stressful.  And, worrying about whether or not it will affect your ability to get medical malpractice insurance coverage in the future, is an added layer of worry.

But, we are here to help!  Not only do we specialize in medical malpractice insurance, but we are also experts at getting coverage for physicians who have had a claim(s).  Our agents can help you.

How We Can Help

1. We will work with you to get an understanding of your claim(s).

2.  We will then position you in the most positive light possible.

3.  We will shop the market for you.  We have access to all of the major carriers as well as the surplus lines market, if needed.

In addition to the large variety of carriers we have access to, we also have deep, long-standing  relationships with their underwriters.  Thus, we are able to avoid putting your application into a situation where you might be declined (which can hurt you for future submissions).

And, rest assured, as we do with every customer, we will work to find you the best coverage at the best price, given your situation.  Let us be your advocate.

What Should I Do Next?

1. Gather any informational documents relating to your claim(s), so you can answer any questions your agent might have.

2.  Gather any risk management CME certificates and/or consider taking a risk management CME course.  Some insurance companies offer free or low-cost risk management CMEs.  Check with your current carrier to see if this might be an option for you.  These classes can often be taken online and last about 1-2 hours.  And, it can go a long way towards helping us position you as a good risk.
